The Nuremberg Demonstrator in Project SENSIBLE is focused on demonstrating the integration of energy storage (electric and thermal) with micro-generation technologies in larger buildings.Using a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) as the central control component, the energy procurement costs can be minimized or the self-consumption of locally generated energy can be maximized.
To demonstrate the benefits of the interaction between buildings and a smart grid, a flexible testing environment for the generation units and the BEMS was planned to allow for the emulation of arbitrary building designs in a laboratory setting. The commissioning process of the Generator-System-Lab at the facilities of Technische Hochschule Nürnberg has now been finalized. All components have been successfully tested and are controllable via a graphical user interface (GUI) developed in LabVIEW. The next step is the extended connection between the BEMS-Lab at Siemens in Erlangen and the Generator-System-Lab, which enables a remote control of the components of the Generator-System-Lab.
